Dessert Table Masterpiece in Black and Yellow
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 9:06PM If you think that black and yellow would seem like the ugliest color scheme for a wedding, think again.
Diana Louise "Punky" Porca makes the most incredible dessert tables for all occasions. She was actually my first food client, and is pretty much the reason I shoot food today. For the past four to five years, we've been doing project after project together and I'm amazed at how much she's progressed every single time. From tiny little cupcakes to sell in her start-up online bakery, to well-designed fondants, and now, dessert tables that might name her the Amy Atlas of the Philippines. I can't wait to see what she'd do next!

When I saw Punky whip up this gorgeous set, I was like, I have to step my game up or I might as well die! I've been drooling over Amy Atlas' eye-candies for the longest time, and here it is right in front of me and my camera. I was pinching myself, smiling like a love-struck fool, thinking, is this even real?!

My favorite part of shooting dessert tables is the little snippets of every item on the set. Every piece gets a solo shot and you don't even have to worry about the background, because the colors you'd find sneaking at the back would easily compliment whatever it is you shoot in front.

Who would've thought that these cheap items found in any local grocery could look so classy and delicate with just a bit of prop magic.

I had to stick that black ribbon in front of the bowl. The prop stylist in me kept nagging about it the whole time. oh and yes, those are banana flavored gummies by the way.

I forgot what these are called, but according to Punky, she had a hard time coating and shaping these yellow cake balls. They look amazing though, so I guess it was all worth it!
